WP3 - Design and implementation of smartphone-based sensors

WP3 (UNINA) [months 1-15] – Design and implementation of smartphone-based sensors

This WP will be in charge for smartphone-based sensors design and development. The WP will evaluate various options for the realization of a low-cost sensor that is capable of recording the pulse (sphygmic wave), the thrill and vascular bruit sounds. At present, we are not aware of any sensors available for thrill recording, which are only perceived by palpation.

The device made will need to provide for wireless communication with the patient's smartphone. The use of the smartphone built-in microphone will also be considered. Once the first prototypes are made, they will be validated on a limited number of patients and any optimizations will be implemented by the 8th month in order to allow the start of signal acquisitions from patients planned in WP4. This unit will also design and implement the app for patient's smartphone. The implementation of the web structure of the telemedicine system and the interface for physicians is also planned. The smartphone-based acquisition system with prototype sensor for AVF monitoring is the deliverable D2 of the project.
